• Although showing proof of a valid teaching certificate is preferred, a person may be qualified for the position if they possess a Substitute Permit. This permit allows a person who does not hold a valid Michigan teaching certificate to be employed as a guest teacher on a day to day basis when the regular teacher is absent.
  
• Sixty (60) semester hours or more of credit from an accredited college or University and must be completed to qualify for a permit. The $45.00 permit fee that goes to the State of Michigan is the responsibility of the applicant. This permit must be renewed every year.
  
• Transcripts of college credit of 60 or more hours with no lower than a 2.0 are required and  credits must be on one transcript.
• Upon earning a Michigan Teaching Certificate, you can submit a copy to Superior Employment Services to omit future permit fees.
  

Individuals who work in food services, cafeteria or playground supervisors, non-instructional computer assistance and similar positions are not impacted by the legislation (Michigan.gov).

• Submit the online application and attach a resume.
  * Complete the online new hire paperwork.
  * An interview with SES is required to be hired.
  * Recommendations from previous employers and a signed release for any disclosure of any improper conduct from former employers 
  * Proper forms of identification as outlined by the Employee Eligibility Form I9, page 9
  * Current negative TB test if applicable
  * Appropriate SES online substitute teacher Training 
  * Appropriate documentation for position you will be temporarily filling
   *Background checks and Livescan fingerprinting, a copy of a clear criminal history results should be sent to the assigned district directly from the State of Michigan.
  * Submit a Teaching Certificate (for substitute teachers) or the official college transcripts toward a bachelor degree (No copies).
